A Positive Day - and A Plan

Dr. Singel returned this morning and is once again, runing the bus. He examined M.E and with a Singel touch (that would not be a gentle one), he was able to get her to open her eyes and move her hands toward the source of the nastiness. She received excellent care by one of her nurses from last week who has worked really well with M.E. (Dave T.). He had the past several days off and was very pleased to be back at her bedside. (He shared with us that he had been praying for her while he was off). She remains in a mild form of isolation for now, but soon they will send more cultures so that hopefully, we can dispense with the gown and gloves (although really, it isn't a big deal).

M.E had a CT scan today and the preliminary results were good. No bleeding, no changes. Physical therapy is working with her at least daily in the ICU. One of the best things that happened today was a positive conversation with Dr. Singel. He seems determined to make sure she gets to a good rehabilitation environment regardless of her level of consciousness at that time. She has a good time frame to keep making positive strides. She will not leave the ICU for a couple more days and then will go to the Neuro unit. That will be a good time to start rotating friends and family members to work with her, read to her, and spend time engaging her in conversations to stimulate her mind. Judi Brown is taking charge scheduling folks to help out with this.

This afternoon, Dave (hubby, not nurse) gave M.E. a "peck on the cheek" and the report was that this got some reaction :-)

So, keep the positive thoughts and prayers headed upward and to ICCU room #4. M.E. is looking good and we are anticipating more positive responses.

A big thank you to Rhonda and Judi for taking over such huge responsibilities! I know Caitlin did a remarkable job informing us daily of M.E.'s condition but it is healthy for her to return to Seattle to her hubby, new apartment and upcoming schooling, even for a short time. I know she will be anxious to return to M.E.'s bedside soon. In the meantime we all continue to look forward to those updates and know that our prayer circles are an important part to M.E.'s recovery process. Thank you, Dave, for being such a comforting husband; always at M.E.'s bedside with such tender words, positive energy and loving thoughts....all of which she receives and appreciates, as do the rest of us.
