Chatty Cathy

I thought of a couple more rules. Ha.

8. When you arrive for your for your scheduled shift go the waiting room for the ICU. At that time, instead of calling the nurse on wall telephone, call either Dad's or my cell phone. If we do not answer right away, don't panic! Take a seat. We'll call you back. We'll then come and escort you into the room, so the nurses don't have to. This is also our opportunity to give you the scoop of the day. What we are watching for, what numbers are important, what beeps are good and which are bad etc. Welcome to our world. :)

9. WASH YOUR HANDS. WASH YOUR HANDS. WASH YOUR HANDS. I cannot express this enough. Wash your hands at home. Wash your hands again in the visitor bathroom near the ICU waiting room. And sanitize your hands (there is a gel station by the door) when you walk in. Enough said.

10. If you are not the "chosen one" for the the shift, its not like we don't want you to be there. You are welcome to wait out in the waiting room (there are also some smaller private waiting room just outside the Unit). Again, give us a call, and we may come out and chat with you for a bit. Please don't expect to come back to see her. Its not that we are hiding her, just limiting the stimulation.

Are you sick of my rules yet? I thought so. I'm very controlling, just ask my mother.
