Two very good things happened today. This morning when several of us were in the room (Dave, Judi, Mary Alice, and I), M.E. was really trying to get her eyes open. She opened the right eye spontaneously a couple of times for a brief moment. After I left, while the others were chatting at the bedside M.E. opened her right eye, but when she was spoken to directly, she would close.
Later this afternoon, Dr. Singel came by and got a good response to the "pinch". M.E. appeared to smile and held the expression. We are definitely moving in a positive direction! The internal medicine man came in and said all was good from his perspective. No fever, no signs of infection. M.E. has been on only humidified room air since yesterday (no supplemental oxygen), and doing fine.
Now that there are more reactions and they are starting to come spontaneously, we are all very encouraged (and abundantly thankful). So don't stop sending all of those positive thoughts and prayers her way!

Awesome!! Thanks for these updates. We, her work family, are all keeping ME in our thoughts and prayers. We miss her laughter and smile.
