Today was unreal! As soon as MaryEleanor's trache was capped for the day, she spoke, nonstop. Whether it was her therapists, friends or relatives, we all enjoyed a day of relaxed conversation. ME mentioned early in the day that now she understands that it is not a big effort to speak when her trache is capped. Understanding this was important as now it does not take ME as much thought process to speak. She realizes it's "easy".
ME enjoyed a bit of oatmeal for breakfast, with brown sugar. A little milk chaser helped. ME's gaining a significant amount of her arm strength back. Whereas I thought she was doing well when I left last Sunday, she blew me away today with how well she accomplished many tasks throughout the day. The interaction she had with some of her therapists today brought tears to their eyes.
This afternoon we had a summit meeting with everyone involved with ME's care. A representative of the company that will assume her care when we arrive home was there also. We successfully mapped out a day with ME and all of the supplies and equipment needed. Everyone, especially me, felt more confident at the conclusion of the gathering.
The next five days will be action packed and rewarding. ME enjoyed a special visit today from Dr Tom McNalley, her attending physician for the first five weeks at the U. It was a pure social visit and he was thoroughly impressed with ME's progress since he last saw her before Thanksgiving. He mentioned stopping by again in about a week. ME let him know that she would be home by then but he was more than welcome to visit her there.

We are ready. Thanks to you web-footed friends but ME is set to come home to her own home. We will need you still so please stand by. Fundraising is easy with so many caring about ME and Dave. Thanks ALL! This is not over, we have a long way to go but who could not be amazed with the last week. GOD is good! All the time!

ME, this is fantastic news...I can't wait to have a great chat with you. I wish I was there! I'm going to call Dave & see if he can put you on the phone! It sounds like everything is coming together to make a smooth transition home. I know your Yakima friends will surround you & Dave with love, support, and of course great food!!!
