Blackjack!

There is no such thing as a "typical" day at the U. Something new is introduced every day MaryEleanor is there. It's never "let's try this", it's always "let's do this".

There is no doubt in my mind, and others, that cognitively, ME is all there. The real work is in getting that brain to relearn to send signals to the rest of her body. Compared to last Sunday, ME is demonstrating that this ongoing, repetitive and tough regimen is beginning to show dividends. It's amazing to see her actively assist her therapists in all activities. Whether it's the simplicity (for us) of getting ready for the day or complexity (taken for granted by us) of driving her chair, ME gives it her all.

A couple of ME's Alpha Chi Omega sisters visited to day, Ann and Diane. ME now has several more pillows to use thanks to these two lovely ladies. Elaine popped in for a quick visit over the noon hour. As promised, Judi and Rick whisked me away for a late lunch. Charlie, ME's brother, stops by every day after work for a chat and whatever else he can do to help get ME ready for the evening. I know ME appreciates seeing him every day. It means as much to me as it does ME.

Shortly after we returned from lunch, ME was fitted with some new arm and ankle splints. The idea behind these is to assist ME with getting her major joints for walking and working back in line. As I was working with the ankle braces, I noticed that MaryEleanor has a bit of a five o'clock shadow showing up. I'll need to address this tomorrow afternoon.

Paul's coming down tomorrow from Bham. Hopefully we will have a family dinner together tomorrow night at the Madison Park Villa! It's been a while since the four of us were together.

When Judi, Rick and I returned from lunch today, ME was already in the gym working with Barb, ME's OT. When we arrived Barb told us ME had mastered several games including kicking Barb's butt in "21".
