Team Meeting

MaryEleanor and I survived our first week "on our own". Daily chats with Polly, debriefing the day's activities, helped a lot and will probably continue. She coached me through a procedure yesterday that I had never done, imagine that! Thank goodness it worked correctly.

Winter is maintaining it's grip on us (and most everyone who reads this blog). We did have a couple of days where it reached the mid 40's, was sunny and no wind. Twice ME ventured outside for a breath a fresh air and a quick jaunt up the driveway, instructing her caregiver to grab the mail.

The Rehab Without Walls people won't be with us forever. We have capitalized on their presence for simple things like helping ME into her chair or back into bed. They are always here on "shower day". Whereas two people make a shower easier to accomplish, all of ME's daytime caregivers are now comfortable assisting MaryEleanor with these transfers, when they are alone. One reason for this is the amount of work ME does.

This past Thursday, two therapists worked with ME, exercising on our bed. Not the same as the adjustable mats at the U but a firm enough surface to work on. Once the session was complete, and with three people standing by, ME transferred herself from the bed to her chair!

Earlier in the week, ME sent an email to Kristi at her office. ME wanted a) Kristi to visit and b) to offer any help with current projects. Kristi did visit Friday night and brought a couple of files with her. MaryEleanor picked right up where she left off in July and answered the technical questions posed.

Rhonda popped out for her weekly, post tennis visit. The two of them always either called each other or got together when "The Bachelor" series was running. Since it's on too late for ME now, I rigged up the laptop and they watched the latest episode online. Rhonda had to keep reminding ME to blink. Me? I got as far away in the house as I could!

MaryEleanor has called a team meeting today. All of her caregivers will meet here this afternoon. The purpose is to allow everyone the opportunity to meet each other and share information. I wouldn't be surprised to see ME lead everyone in a team building exercise. MaryEleanor is definitely driving the bus.
