Yesterday, Polly and I joined a conference call with all of the therapists who work with MaryEleanor. It's the only time they have a chance to share information and ask for input from us. Robyn, their lead PT, spent some time with ME on Thursday after not seeing her since the first day we were home. Needless to say, Robyn was blown away with the progress ME has made, physically and mentally. As each therapist gave their report, one clear message was heard. MaryEleanor continues to work hard and try new activities.
Because of this accelerated pace, ME's insurance has authorized another four weeks of the Rehab Without Walls program. All of this points back to those extra three weeks we stayed at the U. We continue the appeal process with ME's insurance but regardless of the outcome, it has paid off in spades.
MaryEleanor has been navigating around the house in her chair, on her own. Thursday's weather was pleasant enough for a brief journey outside. Polly let me know that ME made the tight turn out the door to the garage, cruised down the ramp and beat feet for the sun. A little bit of fresh air went a long way on the feel good scale.
With Caitlin's assistance, Polly and I will be interviewing people this weekend to replace her when she returns to Lewiston. Caitlin did an excellent job screening the many responses to our ad.
Paul is slowly readjusting to school. As many of you know, weather has been the story in western Washington this week. Paul called me during the height of the flooding to report he was rescuing his buddy Hawk from a very wet basement apartment.
ME had me up early this morning, thus the early post. Demanding lady!

Dave & M.E.,
Glad to hear about the approval for more "Rehab without Walls" program.
Sounds like it is definitely benefiting M.E.'s recovery. It was good to talk to M.E. and Polly the other day. I told Polly she was an "angel" and she really is. M.E. seemed very pleased with having her sister close by. So happy to read your blog Dave. . . you and M.E. both still amaze me!! Love, Diane
