All of us here at the W4Ranch hope and trust that all of you are continuing to enjoy the Christmas glow.
Our traditional Christmas Eve dinner of crab had to be delayed until Christmas day when Caitlin and Dayton could be here. MaryEleanor, Paul and I decided to do the complete opposite for dinner so I fired up the barby and we had brats and potato salad. ME was and is sporting holiday colors on her cast of green with a red stripe. The three of us crashed early in anticipation of the events to follow.
ME and I were up early preparing an artery choking breakfast/brunch to have once the Allens arrived. Mid morning found all of us together with the accompanying appropriate noise level. Gifts were exchanged along with phone calls with relatives. Santa brought MaryEleanor a Wii which I am sure she will enjoy. Short term, Caitlin, Dayton and Paul monopolized the play. I was surprised with a gift that will never stop giving. Caitlin, along with other secret Santas, had the first year's worth of blog posts published. It is a beautiful, hardbound book, copyrighted to the W4Ranch. Each page is an entry, starting with ME's own journal. My eyes are still leaking!
Most of us "grazed" the goodies on the kitchen counter throughout the day. Our kitchen looks like a bakery with breads, cookies and other treats. The Allens brought all kinds of fattening goodness from the Allen home north of Seattle. Paul's girlfriend, Tana, stopped by on her way back to Bellingham from Tricities. She gave us more delicious treats. Dayton appropriately described the scene, "we will all be diabetics by the end of the weekend!".
Today promises more of the same.
At one point yesterday, the conversation moved to comparing Christmas this year to last year. A year ago ME was in a huge power chair with limited mobility and endurance. It was all she could do to unwrap presents and smile. This year she was comfortably sitting in my chair, laughing and waving her arms in animated conversation. She's come a long way baby!

Happy Holidays ME and family. I always love catching up with your goings on and seeing the great strides ME is making. Congratulations on the ankle surgury; only good things to come for you all in 2010!
