Time Flies!

Wow,
It's been over two weeks since I have signed in, sorry everyone.

Paul came home from the Hoh Rain Forrest for a brief visit a week and half ago. He definitely looks the part with a burly beard and long hair with a promise not to trim anything until he heads back to Western Washington University after Labor Day. The three of us enjoyed quality time together although it's never long enough.

Caitlin, Dayton and ME's Mom arrived this past Saturday for the weekend. ME was not her usual self due to trying a new stimulant medication. She didn't feel very social until about an hour before Dayton and ME's Mom had to head back to Bellevue Sunday afternoon. Dr Dave and Dr Caitlin corrected the problem and now MaryEleanor is back to her usual, jovial personality.

Caitlin is staying the week with us, for a reason. Today is a big day on the road to ME's recovery. We head back to Yakima Regional this afternoon for for the first of two surgeries. In order for ME to have a chance to walk, she needs to have her heel cords lengthened. Today we start with her right ankle. If all goes according to plan, the Orthopaedic Surgeon will perform a procedure which will allow him to stretch the cord and then cast her ankle to hold a "neutral" position.

We will then want to bring ME home as soon as possible as I am no longer a fan of inpatient status. Her cast will be on for four to six weeks. Once the right ankle is healed, they'll go after the left ankle.

Caitlin and I will be busy today getting everything ready for this afternoon. ME will enjoy all of the primping we can dish out. We all are optimistic about the success of today's venture. Wish us luck! I will do a follow-up post in the morning letting you all know the outcome.
