What a Weekend!

I need to go back to work to relax!

Paul, Caitlin and Dayton arrived late Friday evening, just in time to tuck in MaryEleanor and for Caitlin to volunteer to be "on call". I took full advantage of this offer and crashed.

Saturday morning found us all up and around at a decent hour, mainly from the smell of sticky buns cooking in the oven. Once ready, we all departed on our mission, wine and chocolate! Map in hand we headed off to the lower Yakima Valley..............wine country. Thanks to our close friend and neighbor, Barb, we enjoyed over six hours of crowds, wines and decadent chocolate surprises.

It was a hoot! Everyone we ran into was inviting, friendly and more than willing to provide us a taste of their unique wines. ME was a real trooper as we made several stops requiring her to make two transfers per stop. As the afternoon progressed, the challenge was to find more room in the trunk of the Volvo.

Once home, we set about preparing an appropriate Italian dinner to compliment the day's purchases. Bedtime came early for all. Caitlin, as always, was the "on call" for MaryEleanor for the night shift.

Sunday morning came early for some of us. ME, Caitlin and I were up early as Caitlin had some serious goals set for the day. After a shower, ME and Caitlin mapped out physical goals for ME, all targeted toward a trip to the east coast in late August. Walking more, sleeping in her own bed, handling stairs, and others were all typed out on a goal sheet. These goals are now posted in ME's room along with a calendar with stickers. As MaryEleanor achieves small milestones and major goals, we will put stickers on the calendar. Each goal has it's own sticker "theme".

I will try to take a picture of the calendar periodically to show ME's progress. Caitlin did an awesome job helping ME create realistic, short term, goals, all geared toward the "big one".

In addition to working with ME on her goals, Caitlin also spent time in her old room. The end result was a Goodwill/dumpster run by Paul and Dayton. We now have a "guest" room, with a few lingering Caitlin touches.

The kids headed home about an hour ago. As always, they will be missed.

We could not have asked for a better holiday weekend.

Later,
Dave

Mom- I may have writen them down, but they are YOUR goals- and you are such a go getter for making some HUGE plans for late summer. I was just there to help you think out the process! I love you both, and love my visits home.
