Turkey Day Wishes

Sorry, we've been busy.

MaryEleanor had her last cast on her right foot removed mid-October. Since then, it's been all about what she can do with her new found freedom. Fitted with a plastic boot to protect her ankle, ME has rediscovered a mobility she hasn't enjoyed in 15 months.

I may do another post soon as we meet with her Orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow, hopefully to set the date for her next procedure.

In the meantime, ME's therapists are busting their butts, busting ME's butt to improve mobility and strength. ME can now stand up, on her own power and put all of her weight through her right leg. Transfers are now a piece of cake as it is all her. Simple things we take for granted, like taking a shower versus being given a shower, are behind us.

ME enjoys preparing her own meals meaning whatever she makes, she has to eat. We continue to track in the right direction. Last night we enjoyed a dinner out at a close friend's home. Normal conversation, mainly tennis, but just like it always have been. It was great.

We're getting geared up to have the kids, plus Ellie home for Thanksgiving. Not as big a crowd as we are used to hosting but it will be full of noise and laughter. Rumor has it a gaggle of additional "Raines" will be here over the weekend. Time to turn the heat down a couple of notches.

It's our wish that you all enjoy a great Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.

Our best,
ME and Dave
